The softball tournament was a triumph for SDU this year! (We didn't actually win, though.)

2009 March 27: Stephen White is stepping down as Co-Director of SDU in order to take up a new position with the Air Force Research Laboratory. Neal Miller will take up the Co-Director responsibility and work with continuing Co-Director Alan Peel to strengthen the program.

Registration for the spring Scholars in New York trip (see the SinNY web site) has closed: we have filled our quota of 25. If you are suddenly desperate to go, it may still be possible: come and talk to us.

The overnight Green Bank trip was a great success: 16 SDU and 14 STS students spent the weekend climbing, measuring the shape of the Milky Way, marvelling at the biggest movable structure in the world, caving, and mostly eating. Photos are here.

Prospective SDU Students

We welcome those of you who have been offered admission to College Park Scholars in Fall 2009 and are poking around trying to find out what we do. We hope that you can find enough information in the links on this web site to get an idea (in particular, check out the syllabi for our courses, our citation requirements, and don't leave out the photo galleries of our activities). Please come to one of the Open House dates if you can (March 6, 27, April 3, 17) or email us if you have further queries.

In Memoriam: Ken Joseph

With the rest of the CP Scholars community, we at SDU are mourning the loss of Ken Joseph, a wonderful man who personified the spirit of developing community that is integral to Scholars. The Diamondback has a very nice article about him here. It is hard to think of Scholars without him.

James Keane receives Shapiro award

SDU graduate and current junior James Keane was awarded the Nancy and Ira Shapiro Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research at the Scholars Awards ceremony on October 31. This award goes to the best submitted research for all of Scholars. Chris Caruso and Laura Jenkins recieved the SDU Outstanding Achievement awards, while Charlie Schuster and Matt Adams received the SDU Citizenship awards.
